D.Daly, whose real name is Didier Daly, was born on June 17th in 1978 in Abymes in (Guadeloupe). He is a guadeloupean singer-song-writer-composer, actor and music producer.

Biography[modifier | modifier le code]

In 1996, Daly, young artist grown up in Raizet in Guadeloupe, took his first steps in music. With his friends (Darkman, Tysmé, Edinyo puis Sherkan), he created "la Horde Noire" which can be translated by " the Black Horde".

In 1998, this band made his first opus called Mi la sa ka bay. By making the video of this song, he made a decisive meeting with Jean-Claude Flamand Barny, a director. He joined the « Karukéra Crew » (Star Jee, Exxòs, BBG, Tysmé, Phonie, ...) while being a member of « la Horde Noire », and after several shows in Guadeloupe, he decided to go to France in 1999. But unfortunately, at this moment the band broke up, so, he decided to make his first solo album. Few years later, he came back on his island with a musical model and, thanks to Staniski, he met David Drumeaux, who produced the two albums I alé man et Mista dal.

First album : I alé man[modifier | modifier le code]

Daly's first solo album I alé man, was created on June 2004. This album was awarded the Golden Trophy in 2004, the Holidays Dancehall Award thanks to the song Tchenbé Nou, the Sacem Award in 2005 « Newcomer of the Year », the Phenix Tube Trophy in 2006 with Toujou Opé and the Glory Trophy in 2006 with Twòp. That enabled him to take part of the opening shows of Corneille, Sean Paul in Guadeloupe and in Martinique but also to appear on the prestigious stages of the Centre des Arts, of Bercy for the « Grand Méchant Zouk », of Zénith de Paris for the concert of Karukera Sound System, and of the Bataclan for the Patrick Saint-Eloi's tour called Love tour.

Nèg Maron, the movie[modifier | modifier le code]

Five years after their meeting, Jean-Claude Flamand Barny after a casting and a three-month training, decided to give him the role of Silex, one of the two main characters of his first movie, the other one interpreted by Admiral T : Nèg Maron. It is the illustration of a certain part of Guadeloupe's youth and it has been directed by Mathieu Kassovitz.

Second album : Mista Dal[modifier | modifier le code]

Released on July,7th in 2007, conceiving Mista Dal obliged him to think and concentrate himself during several months in order to write his lyrics and then required six months of hard work in the recording studio. Much more eclectic and mature than the first one, regarding the music as well as the lyrics, it reflects more the personnality and the universe of the artist, what explains his name. Qualified of conscious and reflecting only reality, Daly sings what he lives and sees daily. This album holds some good surprises, authentic featurings and unusual and original sonorities.

On November,7th in 2007, Daly heated up the scene of bastille with his unexpected guests such as Goldee, Shaolin and Admiral T.

His first solo concert took place in thecentre des Arts on January,16th in 2008, with Shaolin et Dj Jaïro in the opening show. This night, the master of the place was joined by major music stars including Patrick Saint-Eloi, Admiral T, Missié GG (fuckly), Jeff Joseph and also V-ro and Benzen. Just Arrived from Paris, Stéphane Castry, bassist, Michael Désir, drummer, Yann Négrit, guitarist and Didier Davidas, keyboard player, impregnated themselves of the vibe to create a dream backing.
