Flight from Tana to Maroantsetra, island located on the North East coast of Madagascar. Someone will welcome and assist you. Transfer to harbor, we’ll take a local boat on Antenambalana River, drive about 4h to landing stage Andaparaty.
Picnic lunch on river side. This will be a long and strenuous day of hiking 2h, with over 700m of elevation, along this bulky mountain has the largest caldera of any of the world’s active volcanoes. And need only the strong people can be doing this trip. The latter is our reason for spending the night camping on the mountain.

The rainforest trails don’t generally have deep mud, but can be slippery on the surface after recent rain. Some trails are broad and flat while others are narrow and uneven, with rocks and roots underfoot. Walking sticks are strongly recommended. The terrain in the camp sites is completely flat, but often wet, which can be not warm even summer season. You can expect to walk around 4 miles (6.4 km) per day on average. Today we venture away from the camp and into the interior the mysterious park and only recently discovered last one species of Madagascar. The park’s wildlife is very rich encompassing lemurs, birds, frogs, chameleons and soon but the highlights are indisputably the Red ruffed lemur and the Helmet Vanga bird. The park has other target birds (Bernier’s Vanga and Short leg and scaly ground roller) and parson’s chameleon (Caluma parsonii) but they are very elusive, back to the camp. Afternoon free: relax or swimming in natural pool. Night walk in another part of the forest around the camp. Overnight at the camp.

Surround the camp, we might encounter, the bizarre Lowland Streaked Tenrec. Afternoon, relax on the beach or exploration of the surroundings of the hotel or swimming. Breakfast and early in the morning to discover the bird watching in Masoala National Park. Most every years we are even lucky enough to see a nest of helmet vanga, this is marvelous bird. This will be a long and strenuous day of hiking in secondary forest inside and outside national park, there will be loads of birding along the way. We should run into Blue Pigeon, Lesser Vasa Parrot, Cuckoo-Roller Pigeon, Madagascar Paradise Flycatcher, and finding it will require an adventurous. We will seek the enigmatic endemic Red-breasted Coua, Helmet Vanga, Brown Mesite, and handsome Scaly and Short-legged Ground-Rollers. However, our ramblings will set off with higher hopes, as we also stand a good chance of finding the elusive Bernier’s Vanga, which prefers pandanus palm swamps. Although sightings are not likely, the peninsula is also home to the magnificent Rail. During the search, we will find loads of other seabirds, including Madagascar pratincole, brown noody, and tern colony that are rarely seen in most of Madagascar Afternoon free: relax or walk on the beach or swimming. Night walk in another part of the forest around the camp. Overnight at the Lodge. Night walk for Madagascar scops Owl, Madagscar nightjar…and nocturnal lemeurs. Dinner and night in the camp.

Breakfast and leave the Peninsula to Nosy Mangabe, the boat trip lasts about 2h if we’re lucky might to see dolphins and hump backed whales during July to two weeks in September.
