Marojejy Mountain, an astoundingly isolated island of lush rainforest. From the summit enjoys views out across beautiful forest, with the mighty Indian Ocean. Spend full morning hiking and then walk down to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon we keep walk down to camp Marojejia. At sunset, possibility to go for a night walk around the camp. Dinner and night in hut at camp Marojejia.

Today, we venture away from the camp and into the interior to the mysterious and only recently discovered last one species of Madagascar. The local ONG call FANAMBY manage this reserve, and this is the last natural deciduous forest which home of endemic Golden-crowed sifakas (propithecus tattersallii), which is one of the rarest of all lemurs and listed as one of the 25 most threatened primates in the world. Here you may find over several bird including hook-billed vanga, crested coua, Madagascar kestrel,… Picnic lunch in the forest and then afternoon back to Daraina after visit. Half board night in Daraina.

Makira National Park Discovery

This moderate trip are 5 days and 4 nights

We offer the amazing site in Makira National Park to give adventurers the flexibility and ease to travel some of the most fascinating and remote destinations on Earth

HIGHLIT:

Makira: Landscape and discover endangered Silky Sifaka, Helmet vanga, Bernier’s vanga, Red brested coua, Short-legged ground-roller

Maroantsetra: discover the colorfully Tomato frog.


Day 1: Tana – Maroantsetra – Makira: L/D


Flight from Tana to Maroantsetra, island located on the North East coast of Madagascar. Someone will welcome and assist you. Transfer to harbor, we’ll take a local boat on Antenambalana River, drive about 4h to landing stage Andaparaty. Picnic lunch on river side. This will be a long and strenuous day of hiking 2h, with over 700m of elevation, along this bulky mountain has the largest caldera of any of the world’s active volcanoes. And need only the strong people can be doing this trip. The latter is our reason for spending the night camping on the mountain.

The rainforest trails don’t generally have deep mud, but can be slippery on the surface after recent rain. Some trails are broad and flat while others are narrow and uneven, with rocks and roots underfoot. Walking sticks are strongly recommended. The terrain in the camp sites is completely flat, but often wet, which can be not warm even summer season. You can expect to walk around 4 miles (6.4 km) per day on average. Dinner and other night on the camp.


Day 2: Makira: B/L/D


We will spend the cool hours of the morning to discover the rainforest of this wonderful national park. Targets will include silky sifaka, ring-tailed mongoose, grey bamboo lemur..We might spot lemurs including red-breasted coua, velvet Asity and broad billed roller Picnic lunch in the forest, and in the afternoon back to the camp. Night walk surrounding the camp.We might see lemurs including Wolly lemur, Eastern Sportive-Lemur, and greater dwarf lemur.

Dinner and night on the camp.


Day 3: Makira: B/L/D


Today we venture away from the camp and into the interior the mysterious park and only recently discovered last one species of Madagascar. The park’s wildlife is very rich encompassing lemurs, birds, frogs, chameleons and soon but the highlights are indisputably the Red ruffed lemur and the Helmet Vanga bird. The park has other target birds (Bernier’s Vanga and Short leg and scaly ground roller) and parson’s chameleon (Caluma parsonii) but they are very elusive, back to the camp. Afternoon free: relax or swimming in natural pool. Night walk in another part of the forest around the camp. Overnight at the camp.


Day 4: Makira – Maroantsetra: B/L/D


Breakfast and early morning, we make the long hike off the mountain, though this time with gravity on our side! Along the way, we’ll have chances to continue savoring the wildlife and plant. And continuous to the boat harbor, then boat transfer back to landing stage Ankompy and then drive to the hotel, Lunch in hotel. Afternoon, a short walk in the town for exploring incredible colorful Tomato Frog (Discophis antongilii)which is the endemic in this area. Dinner and other night in hotel.


Day 5: Maroantsetra – Tana: B


Breakfast and transfer from hotel to airport and fly to Tana. End of our service.
